WOOD SPECIESHaas cabinetry includes cabinets made from the most popular series of furniture-grade hardwoods: cherry, hickory, maple and oak. Cabinet doors are made from solid hardwoods--no particleboard center panels like found in panels from most manufacturers. All Haas wooden products are available in a variety of finishes. Cabinets manufactured at Haas comply with the rigorous standards set by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and sponsored by the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association (KCMA).
WOOD SPECIES DEFINED: CHERRY: Haas cherry cabinets are just that--cherry, not soft maple or alder woods stained red to fool you into thinking it's cherry. Real cherry is often considered the top-of-the-line in hardwoods. Most expensive and fine furniture is made of this wood which is characterized by its fine, uniform grain patterns. Cherry is mostly finished in a dark red or brown color. All cherry products will darken somewhat with age due to exposure to sun or artificial light. HICKORY: Hickory is a very strong, close-grained wood that is known to have wide variations in colors. These color variations will range from white to chocolate brown. Hickory wood is often used as an alternative to oak for consumers who prefer an open-grained wood, but have tired of the traditional oak look. Hickory, with its extreme strength and flexibility, is used often in the manufacturing of ax handles and other products where strength is desired. MAPLE: All Haas maple cabinets utilize hard maple, rather than the less expensive soft maple used by most manufacturers. Hard maple is a close-grained wood that is predominately white in color. Hard maple is known for its strength and shock resistance and is used in the manufacturing of wood floors and bowling alleys. Due to its close graining, maple is mostly stained in a light color or whitewashed and can provide the consumer with a very contemporary look in a wood product. OAK: All Haas oak cabinets use 100% select red oak. Red oak is a very strong, open-grained wood that ranges in color from salmon-pink to almost white. Oak is the most used wood in the manufacturing of cabinets and fine furniture and is considered the standard of wooden products.
